Article structure

Most articles open with a few sentences describing the item of the article, often with a related quote at the top of the page and an appropriate infobox. The article is then further detailed in sections.

Article editing guidelines

  • The wiki's main aim is to provide factual, objective information. Do not editorialize and/or include highly subjective opinions such as "Shotgun is busted" or "Marksman Rifle is the best weapon class in the game". Stick to verifiable facts, and reasoned subjective evaluations that can be supported by the presented facts.
  • Subjective opinions should be relegated to "Strategy" and "Tips and tricks" sections of the article.
  • Guides are an exception to this rule.
  • Use in-game terms whenever possible for naming the articles.

Places to contribute

All articles in Category:Potentially outdated need to be checked for any changes and the version template updated to the latest version.

Useful templates

We use templates for formatting the pages. To insert a template, use {{<name of template|<first parameter>|<second parameter, and so on>}}

Template:TextColor: Quickly color a text string, including using ingame colors.

Template:Icon: Inserts an icon, like (ammo) Ammo capacity.

Template:Quote: Inserts a quote.

Infoboxes and navboxes

Perks: Template:Perk_Infobox and Template:Class_Navbox.

Weapons: Template:MeleeWeapon_Infobox, Template:RangedWeapon_Infobox and Template:Weapon_Navbox.

Equipments: Template:Armor_Infobox and Template:Armor_Navbox.

Other items: Template:Item_Infobox.

Hatnotes

Template:About: "This article is about X, for Y, see Z".

Spoiler policy

The wiki contains spoilers by its nature, and the policy is to leave them unmarked. However, avoid bringing them up on non-spoiler pages unnecessarily. Hidden ships and weapons are kept in a separate section in the navbox that's collapsed by default using one of:

  • a div with class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed"
  • a table with the same class

Cargo

We have Cargo extension enabled for collecting data from infoboxes on the pages and compiling it into tables automatically. It's still in the works, but you can see an example table at Special:CargoTables/RangedWeapon_Infobox. More info can be found at:

What to not do

  • Do not multiple edit-save a page to see the result. Instead use 'Show Preview' button.
  • Do not mass-edit articles with infoboxes to change their formatting. Infobox parameters should be clear of formatting. Instead, edit the infobox.
