Toxcatl is a weapon item in Quasimorph. It is a knife used by Gannix Quasimorph of Venusian Bramfatura and the mad human cult who are worshipping them.

Obtains

Toxcatl can be obtained from barter or as mission reward from Tezctlan and Feathered Masks, both at tech level 2, or as possible loot from Emerald Madman, Emerald Maid, Jaguar Knight, Eagle Knight, Slave and Acolyte.

Trivia

• Toxcatl (Nahuatl pronunciation: [ˈtoːʃkat͡ɬ]) is derived from the Nahuatl verb toxcahuia meaning "wither from thirst". Toxcatl then means "drought".
• Toxcatl was the name of the fifth twenty-day month or "veintena" of the Aztec calendar which lasted approximately from the 5th to the 22nd May, and of the festival which was held every year in this month.
  • It possible that the actual weapon itself is based on Tecpatl, a flint or obsidian knife with a lanceolate figure and double-edged blade, with elongated ends.
    • It's very likely, considering in real life history, Tecpatl was the short-range weapon of the jaguar warriors, much like how Toxcatl is one of possible weapon choice for Jaguar Knight ingame.
    • The weapon being a sickle is rather a particularly odd design choice. Given that most knives are actual knife or shaped like a knife with Piercing damage, suggesting that they are used as tool for stabbing.
